using a mill as a lathe is not uncommon when making really small parts. Re: rockwell mill 21-100 quick advice, buy or not? The Rockwell is a nice garage size mill and can do some serious work. On edit: if it look like the mill might get wet then take the motor and if possible the electrics off. Motor comes off real easy and mine the electrics too once electrical box covers were removed. 4GSR Diamond. Joined Jan 25, 2005 Location

ROCKWELL 21-122 milling machine REBUILD. by wally318 » Sat Sep 26, 2020 7:39 pm. In my previous thread I got the knee of the mill unjammed. This was the beginning of the rebuild. In order to go forward. this had to be done first. The mill is a Rockwell both horizontal and vertical. I found it on Ebay a few years ago in Riverside, ca.

If it has not been answered already, the Rockwell 21-100 mill R8 spindle does not have an anti rotation pin, at least my 1968 model does'nt. I just finished a tear down/ R&R of my new to me 21-100. All bearing pairs had old varnished fibrous grease residue, cleaned in solvent, than repacked with Lubriplate 630AA grease (NLGI #1) …

rockwell mill question. by fjrrider » Mon Jan 19, 2004 8:31 pm. I recently purchased a rockwell 21-100 mill and while checking different online spec-sheets I noticed that the advertised vertical travel was anywhere from 15 to 16 inches. With my knee in its lowest position I measure roughly 11inches between the table and spindle.

So assuming it is a nice machine, and hasn't been worked over or painted how would this machine compare to the Rockwell vertical mill that I have now. My Rockwell 21-100 is very nice and I have a considerable amount of $ tied up in the purchase of it and finding a few parts. Is it worth it to potentially replace the Rockwell with the Millrite ...

Feb 25, 2016. #1. Hello all, I recently came into possession of a Rockwell 21-100. It's missing the gibs and some other minor parts. Does anyone know where I could buy replacement parts. Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the table and saddle gibs? Worst case I'll buy something that is close and try to modify them.

I made up a motor mount, mounted the motor and ran the mill at about at 500 rpms for about an hour, the ran the unit at 5000 rpms for about 15 minutes, constantly checking the head temperature, hardly any temperature rise. As I have 2 other larger mills, I seriously doubt the Rockwell will ever see a end mill bigger than 3/8".

There is considerable difference in size. One has a 6 X 26 table, the other is 8 X 30. The difference between the two that really makes a difference is vertical clearance. Another import machine to look at is the Industrial Hobbies manual mill, which has a 9 1/2 X 39 1/2 table. A machine of considerable capability.

25. Dec 17, 2017. #1. Picked this up Rockwell 21-120 Horizontal Mill today and drug it home to the garage. Eventually will be stripping it down to clean, paint, and move to the basement shop. Previous owner didn't really know what it was, used it as a horizontal drill press. Came with a ton of cutters, arbors, etc. Still cataloging what I have.
