1772 Machin's Mills counterfeit halfpenny. Vlack 6-72A. Rarity-6. Fine or better. 107.4 grains. A pretty nice example of this rare variety, using the same obverse as the typically seen 1776 Machin's Mills halfpence and a very elusive Small Date 1772 reverse. The surfaces are evenly granular, dark brown but not entirely devoid of gloss.

1776 1/2P Machin's Mills Halfpenny VF25 PCGS. Vlack 6-76A, R.4. A walnut-brown example with only minor marks and a moderately granular appearance. The central reverse is softly brought up, partly because of the relatively high relief bust. Likely struck a decade or so later than its 1776 date. Listed on page 64 of the 2008 Guide Book.
