D-17 chassis serial numbers started at 1001, so yours can't be less than that. Yes, the D-17 transmission is basically the same as a WD-45 (in a different housing and different input shaft) and even closer to the WD-45 diesel model which has a slower ratio ring and pinion, altho I wouldn't consider the ring and pinion the transmission.

Post Reply. On my WD45 I replaced the gaskets and o ring in the hydraulic transport valve and when the lift arms go up and max out it still blows fluid out both sides of the transport valve. The tractor hadnt been ran for a couple of years and the PO. said it wasnt doing that when he last ran it. I assume the hydraulic pressure is to high.

Yes this is an all original WD45. A little birdy told me that D17's have GR8 bolts.The few that are marked on my 45 are GR5. I'll have to find a standard torque chart and see what 1/2-13 GR5 is rated.90 sounds high. i am just now putting a head on a wd45. I believe the WD45 gas with one battery used a BCI group 1, 6 volt battery. A number of 12 volt batteries will physically fit in the box. You do need to get the proper terminal location for your cables as many 12 volt batteries have terminal location options in the same group size. Here is a BCI chart so you can match to the group 1 size.
