PROCEDURE • The test sample consists of aggregates sized 10.0 mm 12.5 mm. Aggregates may be dried by heating at 100-110° C for a period of 4 hours and cooled. • Sieve the material through 12.5 mm and 10.0mm IS sieves. The aggregates passing through 12.5mm sieve and retained on 10.0mm sieve comprises the test material.

7. 7 (1) Fine Aggregates: Aggregates whose particles pass through 4.75 mm IS sieve are termed as fine aggregates. Most commonly used fine aggregates are sand (pit or quarry sand, river sand and sea sand) and crushed stone in powdered form, how ever some times sukhi and ash or cinder are also used. 8. 8 (a) Sand: It consists of small …

number. Report the mean as the Aggregate Crushing Value, unless the individual results differ by more than 0.07 times the mean value. In this case repeat the test on two further specimens, calculate the median of the four results to the nearest whole number and report the median as the Aggregate Crushing Value. A data sheet is given as Form 7.7.1.

Apparatus needed for the aggregate crushing value test includes a steel cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm, along with a plunger and base plate. A straight metal tamping rod with a 16 mm diameter and a rounded end, measuring between 45 and 60 cm in length is also required. A balance that can handle up to 3 kg and is readable and …

Required fields are marked. The ten percent fines value (TFV) test determines the amount of material finer than 75 micron size in coarse aggregates. This helps assess the amount of dust or clay-like fines present which can be detrimental to concrete properties. A lower TFV is desirable as excessive fines can reduce workability and strength of ...

Calculation for Aggregate Crushing Value Test. In each test, the ratio of the weight of fines formed to the total sample weight shall be recorded as the percentage. Record the result to the first decimal place. Aggregate crushing value = (W 2 / (W 1 – W 0 )) x 100. Where, W 0 = Weight of empty cylinder with base plate.

Aggregate Crushing Value – Significance & Test Procedure. The aggregates crushing value test should be performed as per IS code 2386 Part IV. First, fill the sample aggregate with one-third of the cylindrical measure in three layers. Each layer should be tamped 25times freely. After filling the sample aggregate, weigh and record it …

The toughness of coarse aggregates can be evaluated by 'Aggregate Impact Value Test'. This test consists of subjecting an aggregate sample with an impact load. This is unlike the aggregate crushing value test in which the sample is gradually loaded. Standard Followed: BS 812- Part 112-90. Specifications of Test Sample:
